Expanded Resources, Expanded Access
In 2017, the Northwest Family YMCA in Nashville held community dialogue sessions to better understand the needs of the area it serves. These sessions revealed a desire for additional public recreational spaces, and the findings led the YMCA to apply for a BlueCross Healthy Place grant.
The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation invested $6.4 million to build the first BlueCross Healthy Place in the Nashville area. It has assets for community members of all ages, and it is open to everyone, regardless of membership status.
